Friday

Grey skies hang over head.
Yellow trees pale in the flat afternoon light.
Dry & cold & things turning to bone.
Dark stripes in the grey band of clouds, clearly alluding to snow.
A lone gull bobs its head crying for more.
Calico pigeons rummage around my feet, also begging for more.
The sky veiled & distant, like a 30 watt bulb.

Thursday

Fierce autumn winds whipping dead yellow leaves around & above everything like flocks of mad birds.
The yellow & orange & red leaves on the trees shiver & tremble in their final chromatic acts of the year.
Sky cold & grey & flat as steel.

Monday

Chick-a-dee tending her nest.
The heat & weight of the afternoon sun on my face.
Little whirl winds of dead fall leaves.
Sumac tree with fat fuzzy fruits.
Working with weeping willow & stalks of cotton buds.
The pink dusting of sunset on the scattered clouds.
The October moon @ three quarters full on a chilly clear night.
