Ah, the endless sound of waves against the frozen shore.
Innumerable geese honking like a Turkish traffic jam.
The great lake lighter in colour...khaki greens & glacial blues & dirt brown.
Floating broken ice flows speckled with green goose shit.
A thousand Canada geese rise up from their icy repose as I run along the shore shouting.
Mammoth Yew tree as sentry to something I can't perceive.
A single crow cries.
Geese & ducks arriving & departing continuously like a busy European airport.

Tuesday

Weathered brown seagull feather stuck in the snow, shivering in the freezing wind.
White surf exploding over frozen boulders encased in glassy ice.
Armies & legions of geese & mallard ducks taking shelter on the frozen ice inside the bay.
Canada geese flying in formation landing on the ice..
A thousand geese & ducks honking & hollering at the injustice of the weather.
Last summers yarrow sprayed with ice water.
The lake's water striped with angry blues & greens.
Lake water hissing as it hits the snow.
Waves of white water smashing against the frozen shore.

Monday

Skies grey, air cold & sharp.
Cracks in the ice on the lake thin like pencil lines.
Giant stones broken in half covered in snow.
Geese honking on the far shore like some crazy atonal choir.
The lake dark & cold & wide as an inland sea.
Dead grass twitching in the wind.
Dark waves on the horizon rising & rolling & swelling

Sunday

Sunlight spilling all over the day.
Little creek bubbling & gurgling as it streams over broken ice.
Black & white chickadee singing in the empty branches.
Red berries clinging to skinny branches.
Canadian geese flying & honking up in the blue sky.
Night sky dark as ink peppered with stars & planets & constellations.

Saturday

Black squirrel hopping across the white snow.
Ducks & geese floating on the wide open lake.
Distant weak sun hovering over the steely waters.
Cold waves breaking on the icy shore.
Geese flying in formation.

Wednesday

Crystalline lines of ice networking across the window.
Sky flat.
Air sharp & dry.
Crows cawing somewhere in the distance.
Old snow.

Tuesday

Snow falling then stopping then clearing.
Fuzzy distant sunlight.
Long shadows fall across fresh snow.
Snow like dough stuck to the branches of the green pines trees along the way.

Monday

Wet starlings in the top branches of the big tree.
The sound of water falling.
Mucky snow underfooot.
Snowflakes float randomly through the air.

Saturday

Warmer air & dirty, sloppy snow.
The off -white sky masks a soaring seagull.

Thursday

Morning air cold & sharp as hell.
Three starlings & a pigeon play in the dirty snow.
A shaggy Saint Benard with smiling eyes lying in the snow.
The sharp crescent of the new moon hanging in the night sky.

Wednesday

The land & the land of snow merge into one white whole.
Grey & white cat with green eyes chases a nugget of food across the floor.
The sky lightens into a wash of light blue.
A seagull & a starling fly through the clear air.
A dark tabby cat eat snow crumbs on the path.
Two starlings huddle next to a chimney.
A brown pigeon with wigs extended in full flight is frozen into a boulder of snow.
Snow crystals float through the night air.

Monday

Dry snow blows like desert sand.
Fat black crow cries in the big bare tree.
A thousand sparrows take refuge in the wall of vines, twittering like teenagers.

Wednesday

Dark skies yet warm air.
The earth is wet & tracked with mud.
No sights or sounds of birds.
