Thursday

A sun dog rings the weak afternoon sun.
Teams & legions of crows fly westwards shortly before sunset.

Tuesday

Fluffy snow flakes falling slowly towards their slumbering Mother.
Bare trees band the mountain, back-lit by blank skies.
Green-eyed striped cat purrs with pleasure at my soft touch.
Pockets of snow cling to the nubby bark of tall trees.

Monday

Strong sunlight as Lord of the day.
Small birds at work & play.
A cry of a single crow far, far off somewhere.
Steam rising.
Blue sky & white snow shining in the afternoon sun.

Friday

A shimmering curtain of tiny snowflakes sparkling like floating crystals in the morning sunlight.
A luminous haze of icy air fills the day.
A shaggy dog pulls at its lead.
The sunlight recedes & the sky flattens out.
Snow (fluffy like pollen) begins to fall softly in more than one direction.

Thursday

Little birds chirping.
Light snowflakes falling on to old, dirty snow.
Sunlight in the afternoon.
Eight (8) crows flying westwards towards the setting sun.

Monday

Starlings bunched together in the tree like dark shaggy leaves.
The sound of sparrows hidden somewhere in the hedge.
Seagulls standing on one leg on the edge of the ice as the chunky river flows slowly, silently by.
Burgandy sumac pods scattered across the branches of a skinny, empty tree.
Wind & snow & winters silence.
Later the sun appears & brightens the day.

Saturday

Sunlight streaming in as I wake up.
Sharp, cold, dry air outside.
Mottled Husky pup sniffing tree trunks & bouncing through the old snow.

Friday

Snow falling & silence abounds.
Tiny dead red tea roses shiver in the breeze.
Clusters of fat black berries dusted with powdered snow.

Wednesday

Sky grey with no height or depth or space to speak of.
A crow cries, somewhere out of sight.
Fresh cat tracks in the dusty snow on the back balcony.
The trees are bare and still as stones.

Sunday

Sunlight pouring forth.
The sound of water falling.
Birds chattering & a dog barks.
The sky begins to cloud over.

Saturday

Fog wraps the new year in mist.
Only the crows are out & about.
Stillness reigns.
